Firecracker Popcorn

June 17, 2014 by Arena Blake 9 Comments

Firecracker Popcorn

Looking for a way to add some spark to your Fourth of July festivities? This Firecracker Popcorn has just the right amount of sweet, salty and fizz to it! It’s a really fun — and easy — snack to serve!

Firecracker Popcorn

Ingredients:
1 bag Pop Secret Homestyle microwave popcorn
1 cup white candy melts
1 package Strawberry Pop Rocks candy
Blue sprinkles

Directions:

Firecracker Popcorn in a Pan

Prepare the popcorn according to package directions. Spread onto a cookie sheet and allow to cool.

Meanwhile, melt the candy melts and drizzle onto the popcorn.

Sprinkle Strawberry Pop Rocks onto the popcorn.

**If you want some EXTRA sizzle, use Blue Pop Rocks, too!**

Add sprinkles and allow to harden completely.

Serve at your patriotic festivities! The Pop Rocks add an interesting texture to the popcorn, and the sweetness of the candy melts is a nice contrast to the buttery flavor of the popcorn. Super fun!

Would it be fine if I made this recipe a day in advance or would the popcorn go bad?

Hi Chelsea! You can definitely make this early and store it in an air-tight container.

I have just made this and had a hard time melting the candy melt and drizzling. It was so hot and a little clumpy. I went ahead and mixed all of the popcorn and candy melt together and it turned out alright. It is very tasty.
