With the hot summer days here in Dallas, I’ve been trying to use my crock pot more. But the same old recipes can get boring, so I made this Spicy Pulled Pork using El Yucateco hot sauce to give it an extra kick. It’s so yummy.
I picked up a bottle of El Yucateco Hot Sauce from Target for this recipe. I really like the bold, unique flavor that it offers. It was located with the Hispanic foods, and isn’t an ingredient that you’d typically see in Pulled Pork. But that’s what makes it the perfect addition to this recipe.
I used the red sauce for my recipe, but the green sauce looks yummy, too!
Spicy Pulled Pork Made With Hot Sauce
Ingredients:
3-5 lb pork butt roast
2 cups + 1/3 c apple cider vinegar
2 cups hot water
1/4 c El Yucateco hot sauce
1/4 c sugar
2/3 c apple juice
1 Tbsp honey
Directions:
Stir together the 2 cups of vinegar, water, hot sauce and sugar. Add the pork roast to a crock pot and pour the hot sauce mixture over it.
Cook on high for 4-5 hours.
When the pork is ready, shred it using two forks. Mix together the remaining vinegar, apple juice and honey for a finishing sauce. Sprinkle over the warm meat and mix together.
Serve on slider buns with pickles and your favorite barbecue sauce.
Yum!
