When I was pregnant, the most annoying thing was constantly being reminded just how much having a baby would cost. There are so many things to consider — clothes, formula, food, diapers. I was fully prepared for my pocketbook to take the hit.
But here’s the thing they DON’T tell you… all the things you have to buy when a baby is born is just the beginning. As your baby grows, their needs change and you start spending money on different things.
I’ve definitely lived by the “learn as you go” parenting philosophy. Our decision to co-sleep was born out of an instinct to survive and not really by any educated choice. I never considered sleep training. It never even occurred to me to try.
So imagine my surprise when one morning, I awoke to find my sweet angel snuggled up next to me…completely drenched. And I was, too.
He had leaked out of his diaper during the night.
Here’s another thing about parenting “they” don’t tell you — you quickly come to terms with being covered in all sorts of bodily fluids.
At the time, overnight diapers were not something I’d ever considered a necessity. Well, they quickly became one.
We’ve struggled with getting Andrew to sleep through the night without a bottle. And let me tell you, a toddler drinking two or three bottles during the night puts out a lot of fluid. If I don’t want to wake up immediately craving a shower, Andrew wears an overnight diaper.
I was excited to try Parent’s Choice Overnight Diapers, since diapers are one of our biggest household expenses. I love that they have an enhanced dryness layer that allows little ones to rest longer. As any parent of a toddler can tell you, nap time is a precious commodity.
Plus, the soft inner liner is hypoallergenic and treated with vitamin E and aloe for skin protection. Andrew has very sensitive skin, so this was an important consideration for us.
Parent’s Choice Overnight Diapers are available in Size 3 (86 count) for 16-28 lbs, Size 4 (74 count) for 22-37 lbs, Size 5 (62 count) for 27+ lbs, and Size 6 (54 count) for 35+ lbs. You can purchase them at Wal-Mart.
I was impressed with how they were able to hold up throughout the night.
Do you use an overnight diaper with your child?
Night time protection for babies is an important consideration for parents as their little one grows. Ordinary diapers may not have enough absorbent capacity to handle multiple voids over long periods of time with older babies. When wet mornings become the norm, parents start looking for more protection to guard against overnight leaks.
Parent’s Choice Overnight Baby Diapers are super absorbent for overnight and long-trip protection. This is an overnight diaper at prices that everyone can afford!

For the longest time we used Pampers, than we switched to cloth, but since our kiddos skin is so sensitive we stuck to Huggies over nights for her at bed time. Since then we’ve had to switch back to disposables because of her skin sensitivity and started to use Pamper again. We’ve tried using the Walmart brand here in Canada but we always end up with a rash. Which is too bad because they are significantly cheaper.

I’m sad to hear that the Walmart diapers cause a rash in your daughter, Rachel! Glad that you were able to find an alternative, though. Sensitive skin is so hard.
