Surprisingly, The Nerd and I have lived in Dallas for five years and had never attended Dallas Comic Con — until this year. I wanted to share some of my Dallas Comic Con Photos with you all — we had an amazing time!
Of course, we had to get a family photo with the replica Stargate. SG 1 was one of the first nerdy shows that The Nerd and I watched together!
I was really excited to find a replica TARDIS. I think Andrew would make an awesome Companion, don’t you think? And then we found the Ectomobile and Andrew didn’t want to leave.
But the real fun was watching the Star Trek: The Next Generation panel with Brent Spiner (Data), Levar Burton (Geordi La Forge) and Gates McFadden (Doctor Beverly Crusher). They answered some questions from fans and shared some great stories about their time on Star Trek: TNG.
The highlight of Dallas Comic Con for me was Adam Baldwin’s panel. He was asked a lot about his time on Firefly and Serenity, including his infamous “Jaynestown” episode. There were even a few questions about his role on Chuck and we got to learn some about his upcoming series, The Last Ship.
Then, something really awesome happened. Nathan Fillion — who was originally scheduled to appear at Dallas Comic Con but had to cancel at the last minute because he had an eye infection — called Adam. “You caught me on the toilet,” Adam told Nathan, to the cheers of the crowd.
Nathan then reminded Adam of the time he’d stuck gummy worms to the windshield of Nathan’s truck. The hot LA heat turned the candy into a gooey mess. “That’s what my eye looked like this morning,” Nathan joked, in an apparent attempt to explain his absence.
It really was fun, and while I was disappointed that I didn’t get to see Nathan Fillion (we’d bought tickets to a private Q&A with him!), it was really great of him to call during the panel. It’s obvious that he cares a lot about his fans.
We were able to have a photo opp with Adam Baldwin. You can’t really see it very well in the photo, but Andrew’s shirt says “I wish this was Nathan Fillion.” I’d actually bought the shirt when I thought Nathan was going to be at the convention, meaning to take a photo and have the arrow pointed at The Nerd. But this was just too good of an opportunity to pass up, haha!
We really had a great time, and I hope you enjoyed seeing my Dallas Comic Con Photos.

EEK. This is awesome. Living in San Diego, I’m bummed I never got myself to a ComicCon. Looks like so much fun. What an awesome little fam you’ve got there!

Oh my goodness, I would kill to get a pic in front of a replica Stargate! I love how well it worked out for you that your son is wearing the Nathan Fillon shirt. Very cool indeed!
