Custom Rug Designs with FLOR

Earlier this week, I was invited to visit the FLOR location here in Dallas for their National Design Challenge and book signing with Robin Wilson. Andrew and I had such a great time, I wanted to share our experience from the event with you!

FLOR Carpet Design Squares allow you to create custom rugs and flooring in any design from more than 600 carpet square designs. They’re made in the USA with 100% recycled materials. They are the perfect solution for parents of young children or those with pets — if a square becomes stained, just remove it from your rug, wash it and replace it. So easy!

And if — gasp — part of the rug is ruined, there’s no need to throw the whole thing out. Just replace the ruined square.

At the National Design Challenge event in Dallas, we were allowed to choose 30 sample squares to create our own unique rug design. Andrew had *so* much fun picking out the different pieces and putting them together. It was like a giant jigsaw puzzle — perfect for a young kiddo!

He definitely has an eclectic style all his own!

We also got to look around at all of the designs and products that FLOR has available. There are so many colors to choose from! I love the idea of cutting your rug down to any shape and customizing the pattern to fit your own style.

We also had the chance to meet Robin Wilson, author of Clean Design: Wellness for Your Lifestyle. Robin’s book is the perfect companion to FLOR Carpet Design Squares to promote an allergen-free home. Her book is filled with tips and tricks that you can use if your family members suffer from allergies.

FLOR will host similar design events at 10 other store locations: Austin, New York City, Houston, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Georgetown, San Francisco, and Portland. Wilson will be at all of the events signing copies of her new book and helping to select the top rug designs.  The 11 finalists will win an 8 x 10 version of their rug design (retail value $900).

From July 6 through July 15, the 11 finalists’ rugs will be posted on FLOR’s website where anyone is invited to log on and vote for their favorite design. The top vote-getter will see their rug in a future FLOR line. In addition, 50 percent of the net proceeds from the sale of the rug will go to a charity of the winner’s choice (in collaboration with FLOR). The winner will also have the opportunity to name the rug, which will be on display at select FLOR retail stores across the country.

It is such a fun and unique contest, and I’m so glad Andrew and I got to be a part of it!
