This weekend, I headed to New Orleans for ALA, the American Library Association’s annual meeting. My mom and sister-in-law, Alex, were kind enough to come with me, so we made it a girls’ weekend and had a BLAST.

I am still reeling from our trip (and I have SO MANY books to read now!), but I wanted to get this giveaway posted so that I have a chance to send this book before it is released.

As you know, I LOVE the Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater. I have professed my love on many occasions. And at ALA, I had the chance to pick up an Advanced Reader’s Copy of the final book in the series: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater.

This book is bittersweet for me. I have waited a long time to find out how the series ends, but I don’t want it to end!

“The thrilling conclusion to #1 bestselling Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy from Maggie Stiefvater.

In Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. In Linger, they fought to be together. Now, in Forever, the stakes are even higher than before. Wolves are being hunted. Lives are being threatened. And love is harder and harder to hold on to as death comes closing in.”

It’s a …

Earlier this week, I asked on Facebook for you all to predict the gender of our little bun in the oven.

Five of you guessed that it was a girl. Seven of you guessed boy.

You see, on Tuesday, I had my NT Scan, which test for the probability of chromosomal defects (like Down Syndrome) in the fetus. The test involves an in-depth sonogram and some bloodwork.

During the sonogram, the doctor asked if we would like a gender prediction. They can tell based on the baby’s external genitalia if it will be a boy or girl with 95% accuracy.

If the little part is parallel to the baby’s spine, it’s a girl.

If the little part is at a 45-degree angle to the baby’s spring, it’s a boy.

It is pretty crazy that they can tell that early (I was 13 weeks along!)… but they can!

At first, our little one was just sleeping right along in the perfect position to get a profile shot (which is what they need to conduct the test).

Here’s the little one sucking on its thumb. Isn’t that cute?

It was amazing to me to see the baby moving around on the screen, jumping and waving its arms. It no longer looks like a blob — it looks like a baby!

You guys! There is a little PERSON in me! Isn’t that COOL?

Ok, now here’s the money shot…

Oh, you don’t know what you’re looking for? It’s ok. I’ll show you…

We are so excited to welcome our little guy into the world! We realize that it’s really early (and there’s a 5% chance they could be wrong)… but I’ve felt like it’s a boy for a while now. And while I *really* wanted a girl, I am excited to try my hand at playing with cars and balls and such.

And now, we know we can *totally* decorate the nursery in Star Wars! Which I am really excited about!

Happy Friday!

12 weeks! {Baby Belly Pics}

Belly Photos 12 Weeks-007 copy

Happy Monday, everyone! It’s been a while since I posted…sorry for that. I have had a *terrible* first trimester, with awful nausea and migraines and just no fun.

But last week, we passed a milestone — the 12-week milestone! We are officially out of the first trimester!

Hallelujah!

My nausea is still in full force, but I can only hope that it will lessen in the coming weeks. A girl can hope, right?

I decided to go ahead and start taking belly photos this week, as I have already popped. I have started wearing maternity clothes already…best invention ever! That was a serious relief when I first put them on.

I hope to do the photos about every four weeks. I thought it would be fun to show my belly with the fruit that compares to the size of the baby that particular week.

This week, Baby Nerdling is the size of a plum.

And here’s a size view, where you can really see how big my belly has gotten.

It’s crazy to imagine a little baby in there, isn’t it? It still doesn’t feel real to me.

Have a great week!
