Waiting on Wednesday

June 16, 2010 by Arena Blake 5 Comments

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
This week, I’m waiting on Linger by Maggie Stiefvater.
Linger is the second installment in The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy.
From Maggie Stiefvater’s website:
“This is the story of a boy who used to be a wolf and a girl who was becoming one. Just a few months ago, it was Sam who was the mythical creature. But now it is spring. With the heat, the remaining wolves will soon be falling out of their wolf pelts and back into their human bodies. Sam stays Sam, and Cole stays Cole, and it’s only me who’s not firmly in my own skin.” – Grace
I absolutely *loved* Shiver, the first book in the series. Of course, I read it before I started reviewing books on my blog. I suppose I’ll re-read it and review it before Linger is released.
Stiefvater is such an amazing storyteller. The worlds she creates are so vivid, and the characters are inspiring. I love how this is not the “traditional” werewolf mythology.
And I love the heartbreaking story that she tells. I remember getting so mad toward the end of Shiver and wanting to put it down because I thought the book wasn’t going to end how I thought it should. Stories that evoke that kind of emotion in readers are rare. I bawled my eyes out, picked up the book again and finished it. And I’m so glad that I did.
Now, I’m anxiously awaiting Linger, which will be released July 20, 2010.
Linger is available for pre-order from Amazon here.
But wait! I haven’t told you the *best* part yet!
Maggie Stiefvater is coming to TEXAS for three book signings in JULY!

I haven't read Shiver yet, but I am hoping to get to it this summer, based on what everyone else has to say I will be wanting this one too.

I can't wait for this one either. I loved Shiver and have been dying for Linger since I finished Shiver late last year!

I'm also super excited to read this book! I just got an email from Scholastic yesterday that they are going to send me a copy really soon. Also, Maggie is going to do a skype interview with our library in November.
