Insatiable by Meg Cabot is a modern-day sequel to Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
There are lots of vampire books out on the market today. It’s a craze, really, and I’m a willing participant.
Insatiable is a tongue-in-cheek addition to that craze.
It follows Meena Harper, a dialogue writer for a popular soap opera that is doing poorly in the ratings. The producers want to introduce a vampire storyline into the show to boost viewership.
Meena *hates* vampires and the world’s addiction to them. But little does she know that vampires are about to play a crucial role in her life as she is swept into the midst of a war between the real-life Prince of Darkness and his subjects, the Dracul.
Meg Cabot enriches the story with historical details about Saint George, Romania and Vlad Tepes, the original Dracula. This is not your typical “make up the facts to suit your story” work of fiction. Meg Cabot has done her homework.Meena is a strong character who is easy to relate to. The other characters in the novel are well-developed and easy to imagine.
Insatiable is a compelling story with a little bit of everything — mystery, romance, action, horror and, of course, drama. It stands out from the hordes of vampire novels available today with its historical details and strong characters.
It is a definite must-read.
Insatiable will be released June 8.
It is available for pre-order from Amazon here.
