Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith
This work of historical fiction catalogs the life of our 16th President in a story never before told.
Using Lincoln’s newly-discovered personal journals, Seth Grahame-Smith explains the role vampires (yes, vampires) played in shaping the Civil War and the life of Honest Abe.
What can I say about this book? I *loved* it.
I was hesitant to read it at first. The subject matter seemed so…. wrong.
But now I am *so* glad I picked it up.
Grahame-Smith masterfully intertwines history and fiction in this novel. Many times, I found myself actually believing that vampires were real and that Abraham Lincoln hunted them. The historical facts in this novel are astounding. And the journal entries read like they were actually written by Lincoln himself.
I fell in love with him as a character and related strongly to his trials throughout his life. The cameos by famous individuals were also enjoyable: Edgar Allan Poe and Martin Luther King, Jr., among others.
The plot makes sense and is believable, you know, if any book with vampires can be believable.I highly recommend this novel.
It will have you rethinking your beliefs about our country’s history.
