This weekend, I made my decision! I bought a Canon 7D with the 17-40mm f/4L lens.
Of course, with my shiny new camera, I needed something to take photos of.
And Baby Eli was a (semi) willing subject!
He’s such a cute little guy.
He slept like a rock through most of the session.
Isn’t his little hat adorable?
But my absolute favorite one was this one.
River is such an amazing big sister. She just sat there and patted Eli on his back, comforting him.
I think I got some pretty great photos. It was fun to get to use my new camera.
I’m still practicing and getting used to it. But practice makes perfect, right?
Thanks for looking!

soooo cute! are you using an external flash?

Thanks, everyone!
Mom vs. the boys – No external flash! I used natural light from a large window in their house. I found this tutorial very helpful on lighting! 🙂

Congrats on the new camera!! I think you made an excellent choice (I have heard great things about the 7D.) I love window light, too! Can't wait to meet you in SF!!

Hi Great pictures..
Do you recommend 17-40mm for newborn (indoors) shoot? I have external studio lights.
Hope to hear from you.
