Disclosure: I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team, and was provided with a year of service and an Apple TV. Each month, I’ll be participating in challenges. All opinions are my own.
With young kids, I often feel like they don’t fully understand all of the holidays we celebrate. This year, I felt like something clicked in my boys and they all of a sudden understood. We have been trick-or-treating to select houses before, but I feel like this year, we are ready to fully embrace Halloween with all of its traditions.
I wanted it to be special as we come to this mini-milestone. I wanted my kids to feel the excitement and love that I feel as we come to each holiday.
So, we started the week off with a Halloween breakfast party. I found several ideas on Pinterest. It was so much fun and the kids devoured it!
Then we watched a classic Halloween movie on Netflix: The Nightmare before Christmas.
Hyrum LOVED it. Benson fell asleep in the first 20 minutes (don’t you just love that big belly hanging out?!)
Our next activity was pumpkin carving, another classic. Each kid had previously picked a pumpkin that an older gentleman in our church grew in his garden.
We were not fans of the “yucky” insides.
After cleaning them up we scoured the internet for the perfect jack-o-lantern faces. Let’s be honest, Mom did ALL the work, but they still had fun watching them take life. They were so protective of their pumpkins.
We finished off the week, dressing up, eating candy, and watching tons of Halloween-themed shows on Netflix. Our other favorites were Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest and Mickey’s House of Villians.
I hope that you take time to celebrate the mini-milestones in your life. Let us enjoy and embrace the small moments and allow joy to fill our hearts as we move into the holiday season.
