With the Dallas heat in full force, our favorite way to cook is to grill out. But the same ol’ hot dogs get tiring — so I was excited to try the Jalapeño Cheddar American Craft Sausage from Hillshire Farms. We paired our Jalapeño Cheddar Hot Dogs with Raspberry Chipotle Relish for a perfect combination! This is one of the best sausage recipes I’ve tried!

The Raspberry Chipotle Relish adds a sweet flavor to these hot dogs — with balances perfectly with the heat in the Jalapeño Cheddar American Craft Sausage. Put them on a poppy seed bun, and you’ve got an especially yummy combination!

American Craft Sausage at Tom Thumb

I found the Hillshire Farms American Craft Sausage at Tom Thumb. The Jalapeño Cheddar flavor is available at Safeway Stores across the U.S. And right now, you can save $0.55 on any ONE (1) package of Hillshire Farm® American Craft™ sausage links (from 7/14/14-7/20/14). Ingredients:

Hillshire Farm® American Craft™ Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage Links
Poppy Seed Hot Dog Buns
2 Pints Fresh Raspberries, rinsed
1 Yellow Onion, chopped
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Tbsp Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce, chopped
1/4 c Apple Cider Vinegar
3/4 c Sugar
1 tsp Salt

Directions:

Heat the olive oil in a large sauce pan. Place half the onion in the oil and cook on medium-low heat for five minutes, until onions are golden brown.

Add the chipotle peppers and cook, stirring constantly, for one minute.

Add the raspberries and cook for three more minutes. No need to chop them — the raspberries will come apart as they cook.

Pour in the vinegar and deglaze the pan. Add the sugar, salt, and the remaining onion. Bring to a boil, and cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and allow to cool. The longer it sits, the thicker it will become. Store in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.

When ready to serve the hot dogs, heat the sausage links on your grill. I like that the links are pre-cooked, so you don’t have to worry about serving raw sausage.

  1. American Craft links are hand crafted to deliver exceptional flavor.
  2. American Craft starts with the best cuts of 100% pork and is made with real ingredients like garlic, and smoky bourbon.
  3. There are NO nitrates, NO nitrites, and NO MSG added to ensure that all you taste is exceptional sausage.

Add the grilled sausage to your poppy seed buns and serve with a side of Raspberry Chipotle Relish.
