Today is Geek Pride Day.
Geeks around the world will bask in their nerdiness in a celebration that was founded in 2006.
The day coincides with the premiere of the first Star Wars movie in 1977 and “Towel Day,” which celebrates Douglas Adams, author of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
The Geek Manifesto details the rights and responsibilities of geeks:
Rights:
- The right to be even geekier.
- The right to love objects and ideas unconditionally.
- The right to not leave your house.
- The right to not like football or any other sport.
- The right to associate with other nerds.
- The right to have few friends (or none at all).
- The right to have all the geeky friends that you want.
- The right to not be “in-style.”
- The right to show off your geekiness.
- The right to take over the world.
Responsibilities:
- Be a geek, no matter what.
- Try to be nerdier than anyone else.
- If there is a discussion about something geeky, you must give your opinion.
- Save any and all geeky things you have.
- Do everything you can to show off your geeky stuff as though it were a “museum of geekiness.”
- Don’t be a generalized geek. You must specialize in something.
- Attend every nerdy movie on opening night and buy every geeky book before anyone else.
- Wait in line on every opening night. If you can go in costume or at least with a related T-shirt, all the better.
- Don’t waste your time on anything not related to geekdom.
- Befriend any person or persons bearing any physical similarities to comic book or sci-fi figures.
- Try to take over the world!

It’s excellent to encounter a website every single once in a while which isn’t the identical old rehashed materials. Fantastic study!
