Summer Backyard Bash

Last weekend, we visited my in-laws for the Fourth of July holiday. They live on the Texas Gulf coast, which is quite a trek from here in Dallas, so we hardly ever get to see them. We decided to take advantage of our time together and throw a Summer Backyard Bash while we were there, with a Dr Pepper Float Bar and lots of yummy treats!

Dr Pepper at Walmart

I picked up our party essentials at Walmart once we arrived in Corpus Christi. My shopping list included some Dr Pepper — in several different flavors, some Cheez-Its, and some Coleman lanterns to use as party decorations!

We played Bocce ball, grilled some bratwurst, and just enjoyed each other’s company. I kept some cans of cold Dr Pepper nearby for a refreshing drink during the summer heat.

It was the best kind of backyard bash — laid back, casual, and super-easy to throw together. I cut up some bandanas to use for a scrap garland, added some string lights, and used the Coleman lanterns as centerpieces. The whole party had a casual summer feel.

Dr Pepper is a staple in our house — The Nerd and I both drink it religiously. We love the flavor, so I wanted to use it in some creative ways during our party. And hat better way to cool off than a Dr Pepper Float bar?

We also served some other yummy snacks using our favorite drinks! Click the photos below for complete recipes and instructions.

S'mores Dr Pepper Bites

Nothing says summer quite like s’mores, and when combined with the flavor of Dr Pepper, they’re even better! These Dr Pepper S’mores Bites are the perfect party treat! They’re bite-sized, and so cute!

Dr Pepper Chocolate Fountain

A chocolate fountain adds a bit of fun to any event, especially when it’s flavored with Dr Pepper! Set out this Dr Pepper Chocolate Fountain with some marshmallows, strawberries, and pretzels for a fun snack.

Cheez-It Snack Mix

I also set out this Cheez-It Snack Mix for guests to enjoy throughout the event. They need something to snack on while playing all those outdoor games!

What a great twist using Dr. Pepper with different flavors of ice creams! I’ve only had a float with root beer and orange soda. These look great, and would be perfect for an afternoon party with the kids this summer! (AND adults!)
