Next week, my family will be hosting a huge tailgate for the first Texas A&M home football game, and I’m gearing up to make this the best one yet! Luckily, I have a Sam’s Club membership to help me stock up on all of our tailgate essentials. Getting ready to host your own game celebration? Read on for some Tailgate Tips and a Sweet and Spicy Wings Recipe!
Tips to Host the Perfect Tailgate
1. Stock up on supplies at Sam’s Wholesale Club.
Sam’s Club has everything that you need to host a successful tailgate. We picked up an Aggie-themed collegiate party pack of plates and napkins, lots of silverware, soda, and bottled water, and even a canopy tent to offer some shade from the hot Autumn sun.
Here are just a few items to keep in mind as you shop:
- Paper plates, napkins, cups, silverware
- Trash bags and Ziploc bags
- Aprons, kitchen utensils, serving pieces
- Disposable serving pans
- Soda and bottled water
- Chips, pretzels, popcorn
- Appetizers
- Main dishes
- Ice chests
- Plastic storage containers
- Chairs
- Tents
2. Keep everything organized using plastic storage containers.
We use plastic storage bins to store our items before the tailgate. Once you’re done cooking, you can throw dirty dishes back inside one of the bins to take them home to wash.
3. Make sure to have plenty of finger foods and sides.
Shop the frozen foods section at Sam’s Club for great choices on appetizers and finger foods, like loaded potatoes, french fries, and more! You want your guests to be able to snack before, during, and even after kickoff.
4. Serve easy-to-prepare food that will last through the game.
We decided on chicken wings as the main course for our tailgate, and the Sam’s Club fresh foods section had everything we needed. I picked up some 6-pound packages of chicken wings to make Sweet & Spicy Wings. Check out the recipe below! Also, make sure that you have enough food — the last thing that you want is hungry guests when there are still hours left in the game!
5. Don’t forget dessert!
