A few weeks ago, we headed to Houston for the weekend. We were in a rush to get on the road, and I didn’t realize I left one essential thing at home: the iPad. Anytime we take a long road trip, we stream movies and TV shows on it for Andrew. He gets bored playing with the same old toys and having to sit still, so it’s nice that we can play his favorite shows on Netflix.
It was our first — and, hopefully, only — trip without that entertainment. Let’s just say that Mommy now realizes just how important Netflix is.
So I was eager to learn more about the Netflix Families section by attending a party at a local blogger’s home. The party theme was Walking with Dinosaurs, which was perfect for Andrew and the other kids in attendance. From the moment we saw the first dinosaur, Andrew ran around roaring (thanks, Dinosaur vs. Bedtime).
Molly from Digital Mom Blog did a fantastic job with the party. There was an area to grow your own dinosaur, lots of fun dino snacks and treats, games to keep everyone entertained, and even a photo booth!
While the kids were off having fun, the five of us sat down to talk some more about Netflix Families. This is what I learned:
- Netflix.com/Families features several new categories including Family Movie Night, Are We There Yet and TV for Curious Kids.
- The new Netflix.com/Families page is available for both members and non-members!
- Many families in the U.S. already have three or more Netflix-ready devices in their household. Netflix works on a wide range of devices including smartphones, tablets, laptops, Smart TVs, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo Wii.
- Families with Netflix can enjoy their favorites – always without commercials – anytime, anywhere.
- A year of Netflix costs less than taking a family of 5 to 2 movies.
- Netflix has a dedicated section of movies and TV shows for kids 2-1

We had such a great time at the party! Andrew made some new friends, and I got to catch up with some of my favorite local bloggers. I never knew about the Netflix Families section, but now, it’s one of our favorites!

How fun! We have been using Netflix for 9 years, and we loved how they have a “Kids” section option on the iPad too. The Netflix Families sounds like another great program. Thanks for sharing!

We love Netflix. I am just bad at returning the movie……
Is that your yellow entertainment center? I love it! Where did you get it?

What a super fun party! We love Netflix too. We had been streaming it through our Xbox, but recently switched to using it through Apple TV – works awesome!

Looks like a fun party that was enjoyed by the kids and the parents! We currently don’t use NetFlix but have only heard great things and we are considering adding it.

Well I may be the only person on twitter who has yet to get Netflix. I still really need to do some of the legwork to get this set up and considered. It seems to be very useful for so many families I know.

Your writings stick out to me since the content is interesting and simple to understand. Even though I’ve read a lot of websites, I still like yours more. Your essay was interesting to read. I can understand the essay better now that I’ve read it carefully. In the future, I’d like to read more of your writing.
