There really is only one way to describe the writing in this book: honest.
Meghan’s descriptions, accounts and reactions are all honest. And it is very refreshing.
For instance, the back cover reads, “My name is Meghan Chase. In less than twenty-four hours I’ll be sixteen. Countless stories, songs and poems have been written about this wonderful age, when a girl finds true love and the stars shine for her and the handsome prince carries her off into the sunset.
I don’t think it will be that way for me.”
I really enjoyed the darker aspects of this novel. At times, it seemed a cross between Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.
Julie Kawaga weaves a story that is compelling and dark, with bits of brightness thrown in the mix. It’s a great story and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Shannan and I really enjoyed this book. Ash or Puck, that is the question…we also did a podcast with Julie Kagawa, she is super funny.

I know! Ash or Puck indeed. I'm excited to learn more about Puck… I hope we see more of him in The Iron Daughter!
