I have a knack for killing all things green.
I guess it’s just part of who I am.
When I was in college, my brother had this beautiful hanging ivy. It was huge. It was gorgeous. It was heavy. Its name was Phil.
After Andy got married, he and his wife moved to Utah. They couldn’t take Phil. So they left him in my not-so-capable hands.
This lovely, huge, gorgeous plant was dead within six months.
My brother still hasn’t forgiven me.
But I love plants. I want a garden. I want our house to be pretty and colorful and bright.
So this year, I’ve decided to tempt fate and plant flowers in front of our house.
I even planted some in a pretty green pot to put by the back door.
We planted African Daisies:
And Angelonia:
But my absolute favorite is the Desert Rose:
You couldn’t kill this thing if you tried. It only has to be watered once every two weeks.
It’s a beautiful thing.
I also decided to try to plant tomatoes. Last year, we planted a vegetable garden but it was not a success. Hardly anything grew and it was terrible.
So, I thought I’d try the Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter!
James helped me hang it just outside the back door.
I love a man with a drill… bit…
You know what I mean.
Sorry, honey.
Voilà!
Isn’t it cute?
Ah, the fruits of a hard day’s labor. Dirty fingernails.
I’ll let you know if when I kill something!
Here’s hoping for a green thumb!

Two things…1) How in the world did you manage to kill an ivy? I can't kill ours. In fact, it's massive and it's a piece from my aunt's ivy that's over 15 years old. Crazy. 2) My grandparents had one of those tomato plant things and it didn't work…so, if you do manage some tomatos then I'd say you have a green thumb!

Hehe… Poor Phil never got water. Without water, plants die… 🙁
I hope the tomato plant thing works! I love me so home-grown tomatoes!
