Caribbean Chicken Skewers

Summer grilling season can get old fast, unless you add some unique flavors to your lineup. These Caribbean Chicken Skewers have just the right balance of sweet and spicy, thanks to a generous helping of El Yucateco hot sauce.

There are a variety of El Yucateco sauces available at Publix stores: Red Sauce, Green Sauce, and XXX Hot Sauce. We like the tangy flavors of the Green Sauce combined with honey for this recipe. It adds a dimension of flavor that is unique to other sauces I’ve tried!

El Yucateco Sauces

El Yucateco Green Habanero Hot Sauce is made with fresh green habanero peppers, garlic, and select spices and seasonings. It packs a little more heat than the red habanero sauce but with far less vinegar than the average hot sauce.

El Yucateco Red Habanero Hot Sauce is made with fresh red habanero peppers, tomatoes, and select spices and seasonings. It is a great “all purpose” sauce, with wonderful flavor.

El Yucateco XXX Habanero Hot Sauce (Kutbilik) is a rescued recipe from the Mayan vault made from the ripest habaneros. It has a rustic and earthy flavor with tons of heat — not for the faint of heart!

  1. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  2. 1/4 c El Yucateco Green Habanero Hot Sauce
  3. 1/2 c honey
  4. 1 Tbsp Jerk Chicken seasoning
  5. Pineapple chunks
  6. Bamboo skewers

Directions:

Add the hot sauce, honey, and seasoning to a large ziplock bag. Mix well to create the marinade. Add the cubes of chicken and refrigerate 1-2 hours until ready to grill.
