Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

January 6, 2011 by Arena Blake 9 Comments

I’m sure you probably noticed, but last month, I was in a bit of a reading slump. It was difficult to find something that grabbed my attention immediately and kept it until the last page.

I don’t know what exactly I was looking for (and that’s probably why I had such a hard time finding it…) but I was at a loss.

But then, I picked up this book that a certain Nerdfighter idol of mine said was made of sweetness and funny and awesome.

And I could not put it down.I made the mistake of turning to the first page right before my 10 pm bedtime.

Five hours later, I finished the last page.

That’s right folks, I stayed up until 3 am to finish this book.

“Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris—until she meets Étienne St. Claire: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible.
The only problem is that he’s taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.

As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near-misses end with the French kiss Anna—and readers—have long awaited?”
Description from GoodReads Anna and the French Kiss is sweet and romantic and brilliant.

Ann is smart and funny and a very refreshing character. She has such a strong voice — you immediately want to be friends with this girl.

Her homesickness at the beginning broke my heart. And her funny little quirks (like her neatness on the verge of OCD) make her that much more likable.

Then, enter St. Clair: a charming, handsome, amazing guy who quickly becomes Anna’s best friend. I could just heart St. Clair’s cute British accent as he teased Anna.

He is such a real guy — the kind of guy that every girl wants to fall in love with.

That is the best thing about this book. You *know* why Anna is in love with him because you watch her fall in love with him.

It’s not some illogical “oh-my-God-I-woke-up-and-love-this-totally-hot-guy-and-I-have-no-idea-why” situation.

Plus, it takes place in Paris! I mean, what’s not to love?

And this would make such an amazing movie. I’d watch it over and over again, just as I’ll probably read this book over and over again.

Seriously. You have no idea what you’re missing.

Go get this book right now, sit down with a coffee and immerse yourself in young love on the streets of Paris.

Purchase Anna and the French Kiss from Amazon.
Happy Reading!

First of all, awesome review! I love the Nerdfighter video! It makes me so happy that a guy is reading a book like this and LIKING it! I'm also so glad to hear she doesn't mysteriously fall in love with him one morning in Biology without having any idea why…that is getting seriously old. I have GOT to read this book!

Dating has evolved over the years, shifting from traditional methods to more contemporary online platforms. Many people now turn to social media and apps to meet potential partners. One such platform is pmegle a unique site that allows users to interact with others through video chats. With its random matching system, pmegle provides a fun, yet unpredictable, way of meeting new people. While online dating offers convenience, it still carries challenges such as miscommunication and safety concerns.
