Zombie Princess

IMG_6971
For Halloween, River was a princess.
But not just *any* old princess.
IMG_6926
She was a Zombie Princess.
We even taught her to say, “Yummmm…Brains!”
IMG_6967
We went to the Fall Festival at the school where my mom works.
I was busy volunteering and doing other things, so Uncle James (aka The Nerd) took my camera and tried to get some shots of River during her first trick or treating experience.
IMG_7027
He made a valiant effort, but sometimes it’s really hard to photograph 2-year-olds.
IMG_7033
But at least I got to be in the photo for once!
Even though River’s make-up had all worn off by then, except her eyebrows.
Doesn’t she look like a Vaudeville Villian?
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!
Thanks for looking!
River dressed up for Halloween as a Zombie Princess! Yummm…Brains!

It’s a Boy!

IMG_6437
Last weekend, I hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law, Alexandria.
It was a lot of fun.
We served monkey cupcakes, green apple guacamole and cream cheese queso (recipes to come on the cooking site!) and the party was jungle-themed.
You know, ’cause they’re welcoming a new little monkey into the family!
IMG_6446
River really enjoyed the cupcakes.
Well, she enjoyed the icing.
IMG_6456
Alex got some really cute clothes for the new baby.
IMG_6469
And a Moby wrap to hold the baby.
IMG_6476
She got a really cute monkey blanket and some other baby accessories.
IMG_6492
And this super-cute diaper bag that was filled with fun things!
IMG_6496
When she opened this “Night Owl” onesie, she said, “Oh, please no.”
IMG_6498
And this monster baby towel was so super-cute!
IMG_6514
These clothes and socks were all stung together on a clothes line with clothes pins. It was honestly one of the cutest presents I’d ever seen.
IMG_6529
And a Boppy pillow from Nanna.
IMG_6534
After all the presents were open, we played games!
IMG_6538
Baby animal name games and word searches. Yay!
IMG_6555
And River entertained us all by climbing into one of the gift bags.
IMG_6577
She’s going to be such a good big sister!
It was a great time and I had a lot of fun. I hope Alex did, too!
Thanks for looking!
I threw a baby shower for my sister-in-law’s second baby. It’s a boy!

Fun at the Fair!

IMG_5007
Earlier this week, I posted about the amazing selection of fried foods we tried last weekend at the State Fair of Texas.
Today, I’d like to talk about animals.
IMG_4916
Namely, freaky looking rabbit-like animals like these ones. I have no idea what they are called.
IMG_4922
Giraffes, which River really liked.
IMG_4928
Goats that became so interested in a cute little blonde girl wearing an Aggie cap…
IMG_4951
That they came over and stuck their heads through the fence to get a closer look at her.
IMG_4965
Of course, she had to reward him for coming to say hello.
IMG_4969
She liked him so much that she poured her entire cup of feed into the shovel to feed him.
IMG_4971
He was one happy goat.
IMG_4987
River got a good look at the rest of the animals…
IMG_4996
There was this little guy, who looked strangely intriguing.
IMG_4997
And miniature horses that liked to cuddle with each other.
IMG_5000
And, finally, zebras! They were so cute!
While we’re at it, let’s talk about rides.
IMG_5159
Crazy, swinging rides that you will never, ever catch me riding.
Heck, I’m even a wuss at Six Flags.
And games…
IMG_5096
Super-fun games where cute little girls win fun little prizes.
IMG_5106
River really liked the game with the duckies.
IMG_5072
She liked the swan ride. Her daddy, however, didn’t like the fact that he had to pedal them around the pond. :)
IMG_5144
But I think the carousel ride (the horsies!) was her favorite.
IMG_5046
By the end of the day, she was all tuckered out.
And so were we.
Oh, the fun we had at the fair!
River had a blast at the petting zoo and riding the carousel at the State Fair of Texas!

DFW Maternity Photographer

IMG_4866 bw
This weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to take maternity photos of my sister-in-law.
This will be her second baby — a little boy, due in January.
The first go around (with River) she didn’t have photos taken. So, I wanted to be sure to get some this time!
We headed to the Dallas Arboretum to try to get some fallish pictures. It was a fun (but exhausting!) day, and I think we got some good shots.
Enjoy!
IMG_4591
The whole family — it was hard to get River to smile.
IMG_4616 cropped
I love these next few of Alex against the stone wall.
IMG_4625 cropped
The purple belly is so fun!
IMG_4628 cropped
Isn’t she gorgeous?
IMG_4637
This shot reminds me of Notting Hill.
IMG_4672
There were lots of sailboats out on the water.
IMG_4700
Love her reflection in the water!
IMG_4728
River likes to play on Mommy’s belly.
IMG_4752
Her personality really shines through here.
IMG_4768
Of course, River wanted to play with the blocks…
IMG_4827
River and Mommy
IMG_4834
Such a wonderful family.
IMG_4854
Andy was being silly and put the pumpkin in his shirt. River didn’t quite know what to think…
IMG_4872
She loves Mommy’s belly, though.
IMG_4885
So does Daddy.
IMG_4891
Now everyone has a belly! :)
Thanks for looking!

Maternity photoshoot with my sister-in-law, Alex, and her super-cute family! Can’t wait for baby pumpkin seed to be born!

Four Generations

IMG_3019
I just *love* family get-togethers.
Especially when they involve babies.
Since I’ve taken up photography as a hobby, I’ve become the official family photographer. I’m always the one with a camera to my face.
I’ve gotten used to looking at events through my lens.
It’s actually kind of fun.
So I jumped at the chance to shoot some photos of my grandmother, father, siblings and their children this past weekend.
Four generations of family. Wow.
IMG_3008
Here’s Nanny (my grandmother), Jet and Hyrum.
IMG_2986
And another with Dad. That’s four generations, folks.
IMG_2998
Isn’t Hyrum such a cutie? He loves Nanny.
I think this is my favorite shot of the day.
IMG_2999
Makes my heart hurt. In a good way.
IMG_3017
Nanny with two sets of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jet and Hyrum. Andy and River.
IMG_3055
Four generations again. With Dad, Nanny, Andy and River.
IMG_3059
River wasn’t too cooperative, but I was able to snag this photo of her.
IMG_3035
There’s nothing better than baby laughter.
IMG_3019
And the whole group again, just for good measure.
I have a good looking family, don’t I?
Thanks for looking!
