With my recent weight loss journey, I’ve really started focusing on making better choices at mealtime. And that can be especially difficult when dining out. Andrew went to visit my mom this week, so The Nerd and I went out to dinner for a much-needed date night. We decided to try out the all-new Lighter Fare Menu at Houlihan’s.

Teaching Kids About Competition with Netflix

Disclosure: I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team, and was provided with a year of service and an Apple TV. Each month, I’ll be participating in challenges. All opinions are my own.

My boys are 16 months apart. They are best buds, but also worst enemies. Competition is in everything we do. EVERYTHING we do is a race: Putting on our clothes, eating our breakfast, buckling our seat belts in the car.

Inevitably someone gets their feelings hurt. With the Olympics going on this month, we took some time to talking about REAL “winners” and REAL “losers.” Being the visual learners that we are, we turned to Netflix. They have a ton of fun shows that help drive home what competition really is.

With March right around the corner, it can mean only one thing: St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! And that means it’s time to get out the rainbows! I’m always on the look-out for easy, fun crafts that we can do as a family, but most of the craft supplies out there were definitely *not* designed with preschoolers in mind!

The Lorax Nutter Butter Cookies

The Lorax Nutter Butter Cookies

We’ve been reading Dr. Seuss books to our son since he was a baby. Now, one of his favorite books is The Lorax. To celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday this year, I made these The Lorax Nutter Butter Cookies featuring Andrew’s favorite character.

These would be perfect to take to school for Read Across America Day on March 3rd, the day after Dr. Seuss’ Birthday. They’re really easy to make — you just need a few ingredients  and very little skill. The hardest part was drawing the mustaches, but with some practice, I was able to draw them easily.

Ready to make your own? Let’s get started!

I’ve always loved grapefruit. It was one of my favorite childhood snacks — slice one in half and sprinkle some sugar on it and I was good. Even now, I love to eat grapefruit slices for breakfast. This Texas Citrus Salsa is a yummy and unique way to use grapefruit.

As a mom, I’m good at a lot of things. But making cute, homemade lunches for my toddler is just not one of them. The mornings are so hectic at our house, I often find myself throwing together Andrew’s lunch at the last minute. So when I was asked to give the new Hormel REV Meat Snack Mix cups a try, I thought they’d make a great addition to his lunches.

Get Ready for Spring with Huga Mom Boutique

Rebel Pendant-5

Disclosure: I received the featured item for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.

This weekend, the sun decided to come out and shine. It’s been such a long, cold winter, that I couldn’t help but pull out some bright, spring colors, along with one of my favorite pieces of jewelry — the Rebel Pendant necklace from Huga Boutique.

I love the edgy style that this necklace adds to a flowy, feminine outfit. The long, gold pendant has been my go-to piece of late, paired with dresses, blazers, and even the occasional tank top, when the weather allows.
